Child Inclusive Conferences

A Child Inclusive Conference is a meeting with a Family Consultant as an early intervention, which includes the children and each parent. The conference focuses upon the immediacy and short-term issues in dispute between parents, and is often helpful when parenting arrangements have recently broken down or shortly following parental separation.

The approach remains child focused and provides the court, solicitors and parents with advice regarding developmentally appropriate future parenting arrangements, often on an interim basis. An initial assessment focuses upon alleged risk issues, allegations, the views of children, along with each parent’s proposal and offers guidance as to the best way forward. As a Child Inclusive Conference focuses on short-term obstacles rather than long-term parenting arrangements, the nature of the assessment and length of the report is limited.
